After successfully completing Year 12, WBIS pupils graduate with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education: IGCSE and A Levels - the British internationally recognized school-leaving qualification.

IGCSEs and A- Levels were introduced in 1988 and are internationally recognised qualifications. Candidates can sit IGCSE and A-Level examinations all over the world.

I.ACHIEVING IGCSE AND A-LEVELS - AN OVERVIEW:

The number of IGCSE and A-Level subjects required for achieving the IGCSE and A-Levels Qualification is determined by the particular national / international university where each student wishes to enroll.

Often learned through roleplay, children might practise listening to others, listening to stories, using descriptive language to express themselves or tell a story, or expanding their vocabulary.

* National Universities in Egypt:

Currently, admission requirements for enrollment in National Universities in Egypt (Egyptian Universities under the auspices of the Supreme Council for Higher Education) are:

  • Successful completion of 8 (eight) IGCSE Subjects.
  • Successful completion of EITHER 2 (two) AS (Advanced Supplementary) subjects OR 1 (one) A-Level (Advanced Level) subject or more – if the student chooses.
  • Successful completion of the MOE Thanaweya Amma Arabic, Religion and Social Studies examinations.

*Foreign Universities in Egypt:

Admission requirements for enrollment in foreign universities in Egypt should be checked every academic year.

*International Universities Overseas:

Admission requirements for enrollment in international universities overseas must be checked every academic year.

II.IMPLEMENTING IGCSE & A-LEVELS: THE WBIS PLAN
Year 10 Plan

  • Starting in Year 10, pupils are able to select subjects from the wide range of IGCSE subjects offered at WBIS.
  • Year 10 pupils MUST complete the 5 (five) IGCSE subjects of their choice in 1 (one) academic year (Year 10) and sit for exams in the 5 subjects in the June Examination Session of the same academic year.

LITERACY

Pupils will be required to choose 3 additional IGCSE subjects and sit for examinations in the 3 subjects in the June Examination Session of the Year 11 Academic Year.

Additionally, pupils are required to choose a minimum of 2 (two) AS-Level subjects from the wide range offered at WBIS and sit for examinations in the 2 AS-Level subjects in the June Examination Session of the Year 11 Academic Year.

  • Choice of AS / A-Level subjects is based on the requirements of the particular university each pupil would like to enroll in and particular major that each pupil wishes to study.

The WBIS Key Stage 4 Academic Counselor will assist students in the making their choice of subjects in order to ensure that their choices conform with the requirements of the universities they wish to join and the majors they wish to study.
